Homework Assignment 1

Surprise!!!

Here’s you first spontaneous homework assignment. Given the weather is so good and you are probably outside most of the time and tomorrow is a holiday, too, I think it’s a wonderful opportunity to give you an assignment. Don’t worry, nothing much serious and nothing you can fail, also nothing you can gain points, aside from my sympathy.

So, here we go:

Assignment:

Exit your apartment and spend 30 minutes to an hour outside. Explore your surroundings with the complexity perspective. Try finding a system, a situation, a structure, possibly a dynamic phenomenon that you have reasons to believe is a complex system. What are potential hidden mechanisms that you see in your system when you strip it of negligible details.

Take a picture or a video clip of your system. Explain why you think your discovery is a complex system. Potentially write a poem about it.
