Klausur Scores

Guys,
I just finsihed grading the final exams. First, let me say that I am very proud of how you did. The exam wasn’t so easy and you did very well.
The final grade for the course still needs to be computed. If you know the score on your midterm exam, compute 20% of that and add it to your
final exam score. Take the minimum of that result and 100. That will be your final score.

So,
here are the scores in a table with the Matrikelnumbers.

If you have any questions let me know. If you want to look at your exam, let me know. I encourage you to do it.

Talks Online

Guys,
your talk slides and various supplementary netlogo programs have been updated on in the seminar section. This is material that is in part relevant for the Klausur, so check it out.
The material for some talks is still missing. Those of you who haven’t sent me the material please do asap.

Concerning the Klausur:

The Klausur will be 30% theoretical covering the material that we discussed in the first part of the lecture, this includes:

1.) one dimensional dynamical systems (fixpoints, graphical stability analysis, etc.)
2.) one-dimensional bifurcation analysis (types of bifurcations, bifurcation diagrams etc.)
3.) two-dimensional dynamical systems (phase portraits, fixpoint analysis, stability analysis, null-clines, limit cycles, etc)

The phenomenological part will cover all the different phenomena that we discussed in the lectures:

Synchronization
Pattern Formation
Critical Phenomena
Growth Processes
Fractals
Collective Behavior

The last topic wasn’t covered during the lecture so much but in the Fachkurs. The phenomenological part will essentially be testing your knowledge about the phenomena, not so much mathematical analysis of models in these area. For example, I might be asking you by what mechanism can a pattern forming system generate stripes. I might be asking you what percolation is and what is interesting about it, I might be showing you an image that looks like it was generated by diffusion limited aggregation and ask you how did this happen? I might be asking you what a cellular automaton is, etc.

The Klausur will be graded the American way. This means that you can score a maximum of 100 points. You can earn a maximum of a 20 Bonus points which can be drawn from you first test.
Here’s the formula from which the bonus is computed: X = min ( S/4, 20 ) where S is your first test score. So say that score is 40 then you’ll get 10 extra points. if your first test score is 90 then you’ll get 20 extra points. How points are later turned into grades is something I will post later.

Preparation Lecture Wednesday

Liebe Leute,
am Mittwoch würde ich gern nochmal eine Laptop Session machen, sodass wir gemeinsam die Moviedaten visualisieren können. Hierzu müsstest ihr auf Eurem Laptop
das Program Gephi installieren. Gephi ist ein Netzwerkvisualisierungstool. Gephi ist frei verfügbar. Hier könnt ihr es runterladen:
